~~Awesome Twosome~~

I figure if I can photograph my own children, I can photograph anyone.  There's no experience like cajoling unwilling subjects to smile, even when the sun is still in their eyes and Why is Mom making us do this?

  1. We need family pictures (to come soon)
  2. We need individual portraits
  3. Any experience that Mom can garner is valuable
  4. Dad says so

That settles it.  Reluctant or not, I love my boys and these two created an interesting, colorful photo shoot.  Enjoy!

That BUGS Me!

The thing about owning a macro lens is that whenever I see an insect, I run back inside for my camera.  Silly, I know...

I almost nailed this spider when I reached in to pick some green beans which are still growing on the vines.  I was able to pick all around him, and got another bowl full of beans for the freezer.

Then, while I was shooting the spider, I heard the familiar buzz of a creature that, in man's scientific understanding, shouldn't be able to fly.

I love bumblebees, as long as they don't land on me.

Bryan: The Shepherd's Shepherd

I love what Israel--who used to be called Jacob--said about the Lord as he pronounced blessing upon his son Joseph's two sons.  Israel called Him:

...the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day...
Genesis 48:15 (partial) nasb

Having heard Bryan's story, it makes me smile to know that the Lord has been his shepherd all his young life.  And it has been a blessing to see this young man grow up wanting to become a shepherd!  So, I was honored--and humbled--to be invited to be a teensy-tiny photographic part of this young man's upcoming graduation plans.

Here are my favorite photos--plus a slideshow--of Bryan, on the job at Kline Creek Farm.

Into the Sun

I've been experimenting with shooting into the sun.  Surprises sometimes appear on the finished product!  You might already know all about this, but since it's new to me, I'm excited!  Below are a few of my experiments.  I hope you enjoy them!

Jacob's tree
Sun-dappled leaves

Sun, tree, jet trails
Sunstars in Jacob's tree
Jacob's tree again
Sun through leaves
Fence post
And my personal favorite:

Grass against the sky

Crops to the Grasshopper

Walking straight on toward my lens, this grasshopper looks happy.  It's hard to believe that it can cause so much damage.  But the largest swarms--consisting of billions of insects--may have covered hundreds of square miles and caused incredible damage, stripping fields bare.  Still, this guy seems friendly.

He gave also their crops to the grasshopper
And the product of their labor to the locust.
Psalm 78:46 nasb
